WordPress And Mobile Devices
Mobile Internet usage is growing rapidly. In fact, it has already overtaken online browsing from laptops and desktop PCs.
Not only that, but more and more customers are now searching for products and services from businesses in their local areas on mobile devices.
Most businesses are still using static websites, however, and most of these static sites are not optimized for mobile viewing. Depending on your site, this will mean either good or bad news.
The bad news, is that if you own a business and your site is not optimized for mobile devices, then you may be losing potential customers and business opportunities.
The good news is that getting your site optimized for mobile devices is really not that difficult. Make your site “mobile-friendly” and you will start attracting more customers and getting ahead of your competition.
What’s a “mobile-friendly” site? It’s a website designed specifically for mobile users and mobile devices. It’s fast to load and easy to use – no zooming or pinching is required.
If you already have a website, then you already have a site that can be accessed by any mobile device with a browser. It’s the same thing with a WordPress blog.
The problem, however, is that until you actually create a mobile version of your current website or blog, users only see the “tiny screen” version of your site.
You can see the difference for yourself …
The site on the left of the screenshot above has not been optimized for mobile viewing. It’s just a normal web site being “shrunk” by the browser to fit on a mobile screen His competitor on the right, however, has a mobile-optimized site that detects whenever visitors are looking at the site through a mobile device (e.g. a smartphone) and presents the visitor with the mobile version of their website.
As you can see, the mobile optimized website is easy to read and operate, with straightforward text and large buttons.
